Spring at Starry Nights Ranch
Although the Corona Virus is still plaguing the world, we here at Starry Nights Ranch B&B continue to welcome the occasional guest looking for an escape or travelers seeking a safe haven on their journey. Trees are leafing out, flowers blooming, and grass is greening up. We see baby animals snuggling up to their mamas – both domestic and wild. Hummingbirds are dive-bombing us as they compete for the nectar from the flowers and our feeders. Although Mesa Verde National Park is still closed to visitors, we watch it come to life from our deck. Sunsets are still spectacular and our starry nights’ skies still enthrall!
We, too, try to get away from our daily chores and explore new areas while observing all the safe practices of social distancing. Southwest Colorado has so many opportunities to do just that without potentially exposing ourselves to the virus. Just down the road from Starry Nights Ranch one can drive up to Mancos State Park for fishing and picnicking. Or continue past the turn into the park to the national forest and discover a pull-out with a spectacular view of Mount Hesperus, also known to the Navajo as Dibe Nitsaa, or Big Sheep Mountain – one of the four Navajo sacred mountains. Hiking trails abound in the area where you can explore without meeting another soul.
Pack a lunch or order one from us to carry you through the day. You don’t have to come into contact with anyone else to enjoy a day (or a weekend) of soul renewal!
